I have been a Liberal Democrat councillor on Broxtowe Borough Council as a representative for Bramcote Ward since 1991 and so I am coming up to 24 years continuous service. I represent Bramcote with Cllr David Watts and Cllr Ian Tyler, also Liberal Democrats, and we endeavour to serve the people in Bramcote Ward to the very best of our abilities.
Since 7th May 2014 I have been privileged to be the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, a position that I enjoy very much indeed. I will come to the end of my mayoral year on 20th May 2015 when a new administration takes over Broxtowe Borough Council following the elections on 7th May.
At the first meeting of the new Council on 20th May a new mayor will be elected. I will not be part of the new administration because I am not seeking re-election to Broxtowe Borough Council. I feel that I need some new challenges in the years that I have left.
As well as being a Borough Councillor I am also an elected representative for the Bramcote and Stapleford Division on Nottinghamshire County Council. I represent the division with Cllr Jackie Williams. I was first elected in 1997 and I will remain a county councillor until May 2017.
I am also a Stapleford Town Councillor, elected in 1999, and I will retire from this position at the same time that I retire as a Borough Councillor.
Before initiating this blog on 14th February 2015, I kept a record of my activities as a councillor and as mayor on the County Council's website and if you are interested you can look back on this. The last update to that site was made at the beginning of this month.
There is also a Wilkipedia entry which describes my life outside of the political arena. I have also created a short personal biography on this new website which you can access if you wish.
I will be recording my future activities here and would be very happy to receive any comments and feedback that you may have.
