The draft recommendations of the Boundary Commission on new county divisions for Nottinghamshire have now out for consultation.
Please go the the Boundary Commission website to view the proposals and to provide your comments.
The Boundary Commission periodically review divisional boundaries with a view to evening out the number of electors who are represented by county councillors. However changing boundaries can have negative effects on communities.
Currently the whole of Bramcote and Stapleford is represented by two county councillors. However, the proposals suggest that this will change dramatically:
The proposal is for:
1) the whole of Stapleford and a part of Bramcote combine with a large area to the north of Stapleford stretching as far as Awsworth to form a new two member division; the part of Bramcote that goes into this division is the area to the west of the Sherwin Arms. The Division will be known as Stapleford and Broxtowe Central.
2) the remainder of Bramcote (the Village the Hills and the Moor) combine with parts of Beeston to form a new Bramcote and Beeston North division which will be represented by a single county councillor.
Personally I am very unhappy about Bramcote being split in two. I am also unhappy about Stapleford becoming part of such a huge geographical area and losing its link with the whole of Bramcote.
Please do consider whether you wish to agree with or object to the proposals.
