Following an extensive period of consultation with local residents some new traffic regulations were approved at a meeting of the County Council's Transport and Highways Committee on 23 April. They relate to Pinfold Lane and Mill Road, Cliffe Hill Avenue and Windsor Street and Brookhill Street. The new arrangements to be introduced are detailed on the maps below.
The parliamentary candidates for the Broxtowe constituency were invited to discuss issues affecting the election in a debate for Notts TV. It turned out to be a very lively debate indeed. You can see it at http://nottstv.com/programmes/channel-8-debate/
Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping has today (25/04/2015) announced that around 70 PCSO posts are to go at Nottinghamshire Police. This reduction represents a 20% cut in PCSO numbers across Nottinghamshire.
I am really disappointed with this announcement. PCSOs are a real asset to our communities. They help to cut crime and to make people feel safe. I am really concerned that the reduction in numbers will result in PCSOs being taken out of the Borough of Broxtowe and put into Nottingham City with the argument that crime is higher in the city. I hope that the PCC will involve residents from across Nottinghamshire in any review of neighbourhood policing, so that residents views can be heard. The Liberal Democrats have pledged to get rid of the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner and replace it with a committee of councillors and lay members. The cost of the PCCs Office each year is estimated at £1,000,000. I personally believe that this money would be better spent on front line policing, and I am sure this is a view that many members of the public share. There are plans to create a number of clearways to restrict parking near some bus stops in Stapleford. The clearways will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. They are at:
New Eaton Road, bus stops BR0140 and BR0141 (The Vista, New Eaton Road). No Stopping (Mon – Sat, 7am – 7pm). New Eaton Road, bus stops BR0142 and BR0143 (Toton Lane side of New Eaton Road). No Stopping (Mon – Sat, 7am – 7pm). Pasture Road, bus stop BR0246 (opposite 109 Pasture Road). No stopping at any time. Windsor Street, bus stop BR0479 (outside numbers 37, 39 and 41 Windsor Street). No Stopping (Mon – Sat, 7am – 7pm). Any comments should be directed to TMconsultation@nottscc.gov.uk or 0115 97 73704 by 22nd May 2015. Please copy me in to any comments that you have. Town Street, Bramcote will be resurfaced during the week commencing 17th August. It will be completed in time for the bank holiday weekend and, in particular, there will be full access to the White Lion in time for the Beer Festival that is planned for that weekend.
