I am Stan Heptinstall and I live in Bramcote which is near Nottingham in the UK. I worked at the University of Nottingham for many years and am now retired. On retiring, the University gave me the title of Emeritus Professor of the University of Nottingham. Since retirement I have become a founding director of Platelet Solutions, a spinout company of the University that provides products for optimising healthcare. The company is an extension of the research that I performed when employed by the University.
For many years I was a local councillor which included a very enjoyable year as the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe. On 21 November 2018 I attended a ceremony at Beeston Town Hall and was honoured to receive the title of Alderman of the Borough of Broxtowe along with four others who also received honours. These were Nigel Adams, Watson, Ellie Leatherland and John Booth. It was a very special evening.
I get involved in community activities, for example, for many years I chaired the meetings of the Bramcote and Stapleford Golden Jubilee Group that organises the Hemlock Happening, and am also active in my local church, where I am currently a churchwarden.
